Have you ever wanted to just restart GNOME but do not want to reboot the whole computer?

Here’s how:

  1. Save and close all open applications
  2. Use the Ctrl-Alt-Backspace shortcut keys to restart GNOME
  3. If Ctrl-Alt-Backspace is disabled, type

sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart
