Imagine carrying a fully functioning computer with a true desktop experience in your pocket. I'm talking about a real desktop OS built in to your smartphone. Canonical, the company behind Ubuntu Linux, wants to make that happen. Soon.

About 4 years ago I picked up snowboarding as a hobby. It was completely by chance, me and my girlfriend stopped by a sporting goods store looking for something for her and as an inpulse buy I purchased a snowboard, boots, and bindings.

After 17 years of existence, the Apache HTTP web server is one of the most successful and dominant open source projects of all time. Today Apache is looking to extend that streak of success with the new Apache 2.4 web server release, marking the first major Apache web server update since the 2.2 release in 2005.

As an avid Computer Geek, a Web Application Developer, and an IT Infrastructure Manager I often get asked to take a look at a friend's, co-worker's, or a friend's of a friend's of a friend's cousin's .... from facebook ... computer. It's always presumed that since I'm in IT I not only CAN fix their problem, but also have the time and want to do it for FREE. I've ran into this several times in the recent past and wanted to give everyone some reasons why I won't do it free of charge ever again.

With the overwhelming news, blog posts and industry talk of Google+, I thought it might be helpful to combine some of the hottest ‘advanced’ tips and tricks in one place. To be clear, this if far from an exhaustive list as Google continues to launch updates at a blistering pace and some of the power-users are finding awesome new features on nearly a daily basis. An international team of scientists has demonstrated a revolutionary new way of magnetic recording which will allow information to be processed hundreds of times faster than by current hard drive technology. The researchers found they could record information using only heat – a previously unimaginable scenario.

A "worrying number" of Facebook users are sharing a link to a malware-laden fake CNN news page reporting the U.S. has attacked Iran and Saudi Arabia, security firm Sophos said Friday. If users who follow the link then click to play what purports to be video coverage of the attack, they are prompted to update their Adobe Flash player with a pop-up window that looks very much like the real thing.

EcoATM is preparing to rollout a fully automated phone recycling machine across the US during 2012. The machine, which pays cash for a variety of portable electronic devices, was displayed at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas and is already available at a number of locations in California.
